Wet

Wet, originally uploaded by Yogendra174.

This kingfisher came out of water and sat besides me... (and for that.. i was laying motionless on this REALLY DIRTY spot for 15-20 mins.. or more!) This is a full-frame picture with 300 mm.

Vaibhav had tole me that you can kill all defects of a slow-small zoom lens by going as near to the bird as possible... if i was any closer than this.. i would have cut some part of the bird! :)

And the results speak (not patting my back here!).. but i am impressed that sigma 70-300 can capture the textures on the back and the "wet" feathers on the belly!!

Thanks Vaibhav for all the tips.. i am trying to implement them as much as i can!

Yellow Wagtail

Yellow Wagtail, originally uploaded by Yogendra174.

Wanted to capture the brilliant yellow colors of this wagtail for a few months. This was first time i could reach near enough to capture good amount of details with Sigma 70-300! This is a full-frame shot! (that tells how near i was!)

See couple of other interesting poses it gave me in the comments!

BTW.. it get confusing whether its a Yellow Wagtail Or Citrine Wagtail... following two links should help!
Yellow Wagtail : orientalbirdimages.org/search.php?Bird_ID=2087
Citrine Wagtail : orientalbirdimages.org/search.php?Bird_ID=2098

Considering the black head i concluded that its a Yellow Wagtail.. the experts can correct please!

Ready to Catch Food

Ready to Catch Food, originally uploaded by Yogendra174.

This web was invisible till i almost went through it. The morning sun rays lit it with colors when i was inches away from blowing it away in my path. A quick few steps back, manual focus and steady hands.. that's all that was required.

Getting the background & the glare right was difficult... this one looks better but i have one more with colorful bokeh in comments

Hope in my eyes & You can help

We visited
"Saraswati Anath Shikshan Ashram" on Friday 4th Feb.

it was a great experience to see 50+ children taken care of by a dedicated guy, who at one point of time was abandoned on Pune Railway Station when he was a child! Currently he works as a laborer and still has no complaints to take care of 50+ kids.

It was very humbling experience to visit this small place in really poor area in Dapodi.

www.saraswatianathashram.org

two small room shared by 40 kids on bunker beds and still being "happy" was very humbling experience!
very humbling experience.

I don't want to make it a sales pitch.. but if any of you can help.. please extend the help (to these guys or anyone like them).

Regarding this guy in the photo.. he was so affectionate that that he hugged almost everyone of us.. and boy.. the warmth of his hug is still with me.. and will remain.

Caught in the flight

Caught in the flight, originally uploaded by Yogendra174.

Humm... that clarity and focus on bird-in-flight with sigma... i am impressed with the lens... and in spite of it misfiring many times, occasionally it gives away things like these which are priceless.

OK.. enough of "self-praise"... now tell me whether the photo is really good?

I see some problems like background not very clear etc.. which were out of my control (which still means its not a perfect shot :D).

Come on guys.. go ahead.. say something!
